FULL BIOGRAPHY
Archie Tulk (b. 2003) is an emerging Australian composer and creative artist, currently completing his Bachelor of Music Composition at Royal Conservatoire The Hague in the Netherlands, made possible through a music scholarship granted by The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust. His compositions reflect a fascination with the intersections of memory, place, and time, frequently threading themes of connection, detachment, and identity into music that is both deeply introspective and evocatively universal. Over the past few years, Archie has had works commissioned and programmed by Residentie Orkest, Roctet, Luminescence Chamber Singers, Sydney Children's Choir, Quatuor Bozzini, Muze van Zuid Festival, Ensemble Klang, The Polish Children’s Fund, The Choir of St Pauls, Phillips Academy Massachusetts String Orchestra, and Sydney Conservatorium Chamber Choir.

At the Royal Conservatoire, he is studying under the tutelage of prolific Dutch composers Martijn Padding and Peter Adriaansz. Archie is also a passionate performer of choral and vocal consort music, currently undertaking a minor study in Koordirectie (Choral Conducting) under the tuition of esteemed European choral experts László Nemes and Krista Audere, as well as studying voice with Dutch bass/baritone, Kees Jan de Koning. Archie performs as a consort bass, currently singing regularly with the Consort of Nicolaasbasiliek Amsterdam, and with Laurens Vocaal, the resident chamber choir of Laurenskerk Rotterdam. In the past he has performed as an ensemble artist and apprentice with Australia’s national vocal ensemble, The Song Company, in Fullness of Joy (2022), and has held choral scholarships at The Choir of St James, The Choir of St Paul’s and Christ Church St Laurence, all based in Sydney.
He began to hone his compositional voice and creative vision at the Conservatorium High School in Sydney, under the tutelage of Jack Symonds, and upon graduating received the James Easton Memorial Composition Award. During his final years of secondary school, Archie co-founded vocal ensemble False Relations, and has since performed with them at the Canberra International Music Festival, a sell-out premier concert at Christ Church St Laurence, and for Phoenix Central Park. Notably the ensemble has amassed over 4-million views and 70-thousand followers on social media platform TikTok. Archie also composes works for a solo project under alias Marry Me Archie, writing, recording and producing songs in styles outside of the art music paradigm. His single ‘all the things’ released when he was 17 years old has reached over 15,000 streams across all platforms.
Archie has studied voice with both Dr. David Greco and Andrew O'Connor, and began his tertiary studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying composition with Paul Stanhope and Harry Sdraulig on a merit scholarship. With a desire to continue his tertiary studies overseas, in 2023 Archie was offered admission at both The Royal Danish Academy of Music, and Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Whether through his flamboyant classical compositions, innovative ensemble work, or cross-genre experiments, Archie continues to explore the intersections of tradition and innovation, offering music that resonates deeply with the experiences of contemporary life.
